Setting

Setting is an extremely crucial part of this story, mainly because each place on Hannah's map (which is shown to the left) has a story and is associated with each of the thirteen who caused her to take her life. The general town is called Crestmont, but that hardly is described, as the story is trying to pinpoint specific locations, not describe a general area.
The map points mentioned in order: Hannah's old house {where she was spied on, where she first met Justin}, Eisenhower Park {where she got her first kiss}, Blue Spot Liquor {where she bought candy and was grabbed}, Monet's Cafe {where "Olly-olly-oxen-free began, where problems were told} ,Tyler's house , Courtney Crimsen's house {where the truth came out}, Rosie's Diner {where she was touched without permission}, the Party Scene {where she was denied}, The Stop Sign {where death occurred , and The High School {where hope was lost.}
